About This Procedure

The Breast Augmentation with Implants and/or Fat Grafting is more commonly referred to as a “Boob Job” for short. This procedure is one of the most popular surgeries performed by Plastic Surgeons around the world today. At Fairbanks Art of Plastic Surgery, our Breast Augmentation with Implants and/or Fat Grafting Procedure is a cosmetic surgery that both enhances the size and appearance of the breasts of a woman who feels she is too small.

What This Procedure Won’t Do

Our Breast Augmentation Procedure will enlarge the size of the breast, it will not lift the breast and elevate the position of the nipple. If the desire is to reposition the nipples and “put them back where they used to be,” then a Breast Lift or Mastopexy should be considered. Occasionally, an Augmentation-Lift combination will be performed at the same time. However, this increases the risks of the procedure and may not have the desired results. If both a Breast Augmentation and a Breast Lift are desired, then you should discuss your options with Dr. Fairbanks during your Consultation.

Procedure Options For Breast Aug With Implants

Both Options Can include Fat grafting:

1. Silicone Breast Implants: These are the most popular choice by far. Silicone implants are already filled with a highly cohesive gel prior to insertion. They are designed to mimic the look and feel of natural breast tissue and to maintain their shape over time. If the shell of a silicone implant tears, the cohesive gel is designed to remain inside. In the end, silicone implants deliver a relatively natural look and feel if the proportional size is chosen. The FDA approves the use of silicone breast implants for women age 22 or older.

2. Saline Breast Implants: These implants are inserted into the body empty and filled with sterile salt water once inside. If one of these implant shells leaks, the implant will collapse and the saline will be absorbed by the body. The saline breast implant is still chosen over silicone by several women as these implants also provide a relatively natural look and feel if the proportional size is chosen.
